On the north side of Bayou Teche, there is a young lady named Sarah sitting in her living room, watching The Big Race, and dreaming about the days not so long ago when she sang with friends at a few restaurants. Those were good times and she longs for them. Her children are being children, behaving mostly, but you know how kids are. They get into stuff.

As Sarah is sitting there daydreaming, her son swallows a samurai sword, two hand grenades and a .38 special. Her daughter snaps her out of her daydream and tells her what he has just done (though she leaves out the part about daring him to swallow that stuff). Sarah springs into action and loads the kids up and heads to Dr. Chauvin's office in Lafayette.
